Mouse anti Human CD30, clone C03-8D3, recognizes the human CD30 cell surface antigen also known as TNFRSF8. CD30 is a 120 kDa, type I transmembrane glycoprotein of the tumour necrosis factor (TNF) receptor superfamily. CD30 was originally identified as a molecule expressed on Hodgkin and Reed Sternberg cells in Hodgkin’s disease but has subsequently been detected on certain non-Hodgkin's malignancies as well as some virally transformed cells. It is also expressed on a subset of activated human T-cells, and by a few extrafollicular T and B-cell blasts in normal lymph nodes.

Evidence indicates that CD30 may act as a signal transduction molecule. Binding of CD30 by its ligand induces activation of signalling pathways JNK and NF-κB, expression of lymphocyte genes, proliferation and apoptosis (Muta et al. 2000). These and other signalling events of which CD30 is involved contribute to homeostatic regulation of immune responses (Berghella et al. 2011).
