How does 4-Methoxyphenol (Mequinol) work?
Apr 1,2026
4-Methoxyphenol (Mequinol) act as a substrate analog that gets oxidized by tyrosinase into a reactive quinone. This quinone, along with the parent compound, interferes with melanin synthesis through competitive inhibition of the active site and by causing oxidative stress.
