A solution of 4-(5 -Nitro-pyridin-2-yloxy)-piperidine- 1 -carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (22.4 g, 69.24 mmol) in methanol (210 mL) was purged with nitrogen. Then Pd/C 10% wet catalyst (1.34 g) was added to the solution. The mixture was purged with hydrogen and stirred under a hydrogen atmosphere at room temperature for 14 h. The catalyst was removed by filtration through diatomaceous earth and the solvent evaporated undervacuum to afford the product (20.3 g, 100%). ‘HNIVIR (300 MHz, Chloroform-d) 1.46(s, 9H), 1.56-1.80 (m, 2H), 1.80-2.11 (m, 2H), 3.06-3.39 (m, 2H), 3.62-3.95 (m,2H), 5.05 (tt, J = 7.8, 3.7 Hz, 1H), 6.53 - 6.59 (m, 1H), 7.01 (dd, J = 8.7, 3.0 Hz, 1H), 7.62(d, J = 2.9 Hz, 1H). C15H23N303 MS m/z 294.2 (M+H).
