To a solution of compound I-b (25 g, 86.09 mmol) in ethanol (500 mL) was added10% palladium on charcoal (8.62 g). The mixture was exposed to 7 atm of hydrogen until all of the starting material was consumed. The charcoal was removed by filtration and the filtrate was concentrated to give the title compound as a white crystalline solid (17 g, 98%).[88] 1H-NMR(CDCl ): δ 3.90-4.10 (m, 2H), 2.66-2.79 (m, 3H), 1.69-1.73 (m, 2H), 1.38(s, 9H), 1.10-1.21 (m, 2H).
