To a solution of EtOH (15ml), 4-dimethyl aminobenzaldehyde(1.40-g.10mmol) and 4-fluroacetophenone(1.38g, 10mmol) was added 20% KOH(10ml) and left to react for 16h at rt. the reaction was quenched by the addtion of water and was extracted with CHCl3. the organic layer was dried using anhydrous sodium sulfhate, concentrated in vacuo and purified by column chromotography(10% EtOAC/PC, 2.35G, 87% yield).Yellow solid;mp-139-141°C:H1-NMR(300MHz,CDCl3)δ:8.01-8.05(m, 2H),7.81(d,J=15.3 Hz,1H)7.55(d,J=8.7 Hz,2H)7.32(d,J=15.2Hz,1H),7.11-1.17(m,2H), 6.69(d,J=8.7Hz,2H),3.03(s,6H),13C-NMR(75MHz,CDCl3)δ:188.9,166.9,163.6,152.1,146.0,135.4,130.9,130.5,122.5,116.4,115.6,115.3,111.8,40.1.
