5-Fluoro-2-phenoxyaniline General Method 1: Reduction of a nitro compound of Structure 1 to an aniline of Structure 2. SnC12. 2H20 (88.0 g, 390 mmol) was added to a solution of 5-Fluoro-2- phenoxynitrobenzene (22.3 g, 95.7 mmol) in 450 mL of ethanol under N 2. The resulting mixture was stirred at 40 °C for 30 min. and additionally under cooling for 2 h. Ethanol was removed by evaporation under reduced pressure and 300 mL of ethyl acetate was added. The organic layer was washed with water and cold 1N NaOH. The emulsion was filtered over decalite, washed with water, extracted with ethyl acetate, dried (Na2SO4), and evaporated to give the crude compound as a dark brown oil (19.6 g, 100%). Data : (m/z) = 204 (M+H) +.
