4.1.1. General synthesis procedures for 2,3-dihydroinden-1-ones 14a-b
General procedure: A solution of compound 13 (3.0 g, 16 mmol) in trifluoromethanesulfonicacid (14 mL) was stirred at 0 C for 0.5 h, thenthe solution was warmed to room temperature and stirred for 2 h. Afterthe reaction was complete, the solution was poured into ice water (50mL). After the solid was precipitated entirely from the water, themixture was filtered to afford a light pink solid, which was washed withdistilled water (10 mL) three times, and dried to obtain a pink solidpowder.
