2-amino nitrophenol (1 g, 6.48 mmol) was taken in pyridine, added potassium ethyl xanthate (1.14 g, 7.13 mmol). The mixture was heated at 120 °Cfor 8 h. After the completion of reaction, the mixture was acidified with 1.5N HCI. The solid obtained was collected by filtration and dried under vacuum to afford the title compound as yellow solid (1 g, 78%). MS: 197.18 (M+H)+.
