(7E,9Z)-Dodecadienyl acetate (1)
To a solution of alcohol 8 (0.4 g, 2.2 mmol) in pyridine (2.0 mL) was added acetic anhydride (0.62 mL, 6.6 mmol) at 0 C and the reaction mixture was stirred for 3 h at room temperature. The reaction mixture was diluted with ice water and extracted with ether. The organic layer was washed with saturated NaHCO3 solution, water, and brine, and then evaporated in-vacuo. The residue was purified by column chromatography (silica gel, 25% ethyl acetate in hexane) to afford target molecule 1 (0.45 g, 91%).
