General procedure for H-phosphonate alkylation
General procedure: To a stirred solution of Hphosphonate (3 mmol, 1 equiv) in CH3CN (6 mL) was added the halide (3.3 mmol, 1.1 equiv) and DBU (0.5 mL, 3.3 mmol, 1.1 equiv) at 0°C. The stirred mixture was allowed to warm to rt over 2 h. The organic layer was washed with hexane (2x). The residue obtained upon evaporation was purified by column chromatography over silica gel (hexane to EtOAc) to give the expected phosphonate.
