Ring-opening alcoholysis mediated by Mg(OMe)2 (1) catalyst
General procedure: The monomer, i.e., l-LA(0.72 g, 5 mmol), in CH2Cl2 (10 mL) and MeOH (0.81 mL, 20mmol) were placed in a Schlenk flask and stirred for 10 min, and then MgBu2(0.1 mL of 1.0 M solution in hexane, 0.1 mmol) was added dropwise. Standard molar ratios of reagents: [MgBu2]/[l-LA]/[ROH]= 1/50/200. The reaction mixture was vigorously stirred at room temperature and at certain time intervals aliquots of about 1 mL were taken, quenched with one drop of acetic acid, dried under vacuum, and analyzed using 1H NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry.
