Example 11; λ^-O-Chloro^-methylphenvD-λ/^-chlorobenzv?^-hydroxy-λ^-methylbenz-ene-1 ,3-disulfonamide; 20. (a) λ/-(3-Chloro-2-methylphenyl)formamide; Formic acid (1.2 ml_, 31.8 mmol) was added dropwise at 0 0C to a mixture of 3-chloro-2-methylaniline (2.6 ml_, 21.2 mmol), 1-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)-3-ethyl- carbodiimide hydrochloride (6.1 g, 31.8 mmol) and CH2CI2 (45 ml_). After stirring25 at rt for 12 h the mixture was washed with HCI (aq, 0.1 M), brine and dried over Na2SO4. Concentration and recrystallisation from EtOAc-petroleum ether afforded 3.43 g (95%) of the sub-title compound.
