5.1 Step 1
To a solution of 2-chlorobenzene-l-sulfonyl chloride (2.0 g, 9.5 mmol, 1.3 mL) in THF (20.0 mL) was added NH3.H20 (3.3 g, 28.4 mmol, 3.7 mL, 25% solution) at 0°C. The mixture was stirred at 0°C for 10 min and then warmed to 20°C for 2 h. The reaction mixture was concentrated to afford 2-chlorobenzenesulfonamide (1.8 g, 9.4 mmol, 99.1% yield). 1H NMR (400MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 7.96 (dd, J= 1.4, 7.8 Hz, 1H), 7.65 - 7.55 (m, 2H), 7.54 - 7.34 (m, 7H).
