Steps:
3.3.1.3.1.2 Phenolphthalein
500 mg of phthalic anhydride, 500 mg of phenol and 1 g of crude catalyst derived from Thlaspi (Example 1.1, 12N HCl) dehydrated at 110° C. for a few minutes are placed in a single-necked flask and heated at 80° C. for 5 minutes. (0510) After cooling down, the reaction mixture is diluted in 5 mL of a water/ethanol mixture. 1 mL of solution is taken then added to a 3M soda solution. (0511) In the case of phenolphthalein, the solution becomes pink immediately. (0512) After washing with ether, the phenolphthalein crystallizes easily.
