To the potassium lactate filtrate obtained in Example 4, experiment 1, above, was addedtriethylamine (20 mL) and THF (30 mL). Carbon dioxide gas was bubbled through themixture for 2 hours with stirring. The resulting suspension was filtered and the solid was dried at 50°C overnight to afford 1.01 g solid which effervesced on treatment with hydrochloric acid (assumed to be potassium carbonate).
