[00334] A solution of ethyl 4-chloro-4-oxobutanoate 235-0 (10.0 g, 6.1 mmol) was added dropwise to 28% aqueous ammonia solution (100 mL) under ice cooling, and then the mixture was allowed to warm to room temperature and was stirred at this temperature for 0.5 h, the mixture was concentrated in vacuo. The residue was diluted with THF and the mixture was filtered. The filtrate was dried over Na2S04, concentrated in vacuo to give ethyl 4-amino-4- oxobutanoate 235-01 (4.9 g, 55.4% yield) as light-yellow oil.
