Example 18; A mixture of 30.0 g (348 mmol) of methacrylic acid, 0.5 g of Re2(CO)10 (0.77 mmol) and 90 ml of toluene was subjected to vinylation at 140° C., a nitrogen pressure of 2 bar and an acetylene pressure of 18 bar for 13 h. Vinyl methacrylate was detected as the main product by means of GC-MS and GC analysis.
