我國GB-2760-96規(guī)定肉桂酸為允許使用的食用香料, 主要用于配制香辛料, 櫻桃, 杏, 蜜蜂等型香料. （1）可用于新鮮水果蔬菜的防腐.
（2）作為有機合成中間體, 主要用于醫(yī)藥行業(yè), 可用于生產(chǎn)阿斯巴甜的主原料L-苯丙氨酸,
（3）用來制備用于因膀胱過度興奮引起的尿頻的藥物毒蕈堿受體拮抗劑托特羅定.
（4）抗腫瘤藥多紫杉醇的制備也有用到肉桂酸.
（5）還可用于制造局部麻醉劑, 殺菌劑, 止血藥 等.
（6）在農(nóng)藥方面, 可作為生長促進劑和長效殺菌劑而用于果品和蔬菜的防腐
