Azoxybenzene 16 (65.4?mg, 0.33?mmol) was treated with DMAP salt 9 (540.2?mg, 1.0?mmol) and sodium hydride (48.0?mg, 2.0?mmol) in dry DMF (5?mL) at room temperature under UV light for 18?h to afford azobenzene 17 (11?mg, 0.06?mmol, 18%) and 1,2-diphenylhydrazine 18 (44?mg, 0.24?mmol, 73%). NMR spectra details as above.
