[0322] 2-Chloro-3-nitrobenzoic acid (20.6 g, 0.24 mol) was dissolved in ammonium hydroxide solution (120 mL) and the reaction mixture stirred at 120° C. in a sealed vessel for 7 hours. The reaction mixture was diluted with water (250 mL) and acidified to pH 2 with hydrochloric acid. The precipitate formed was filtered off and dried in vacuo to yield the title product, 15.0 g (80%). [0323] 1HNMR (CD3OD, 400 MHz): 6.65(dd, 1H), 8.24(dd, 1H), 8.32(dd, 1H).
