Steps:
a 2-fluoro-4-methoxybenzoyl chloride (Compound B)
Starting compound A (2-fluoro-4-methoxybenzoic acid, Aldrich) (350 g, 2.06 vmol) in SOCl2 (2500 ml) was refluxed under N2 overnight.The reaction was monitored by TLC (72h).The desired intermediate B was distilled from the reaction mixture (140°C, 10 mmHg) as white solid (365 g, yield: 94%).
