Steps:
3.1.4.2. Diclofenac Methyl Ester (2)
Diclofenac acid (5 g) was dissolved in methanol (80 mL)with stirring and sulfuric acid (3 mL) was added drop wisewith continuous stirring and the mixture was heated underreflux for 15 min. After completion of the reaction (TLCanalysis), it was cooled to room temperature and poured ontocrushed ice (250 g) to obtain crystalline solid (2) which wasfiltered, washed with water followed by 5% sodium hydrogencarbonate solution, finally with water and dried in air.
