4.7. Esterification of Other Carboxylic Acids
General procedure: As 0.08%-SO3H-Bz-Al-SBA-15 catalyst show very highconversion of levulinic acid with 100% selectivity towardsethyl levulinate, the other carboxylic acids such as aceticacid, butyric acid and pentanoic acid were esterified withethanol over this catalyst under the optimized condition foracademic interest. Interestingly, those acids were also convertedto 90, 96 and 95% into their corresponding estersnamely ethyl acetate, ethyl butyrate and ethyl pentanoatewith 100% selectivity (Table V).
