2-Fluoro-3-nitrotoluene (50.0g, 0.32mol) is dissolved in isopropanol (600mL) and water (300mL), sodium dichromate (150.0g, 0.57mol) is added, the reaction mixture is reacted at 25 °C for 3h, filtered, the filtrate is removed by steaming the organic solvent under reduced pressure, the residue is added to water stirring, heated and dissolved, reduced to 0 °C below recrystallization, to give 2-fluoro-3-nitrobenzoic acid (57.3g), yield 96%.
